A focused reliability release: the Duplicate Finder is smarter and far faster on big libraries, the app stays responsive with tens of thousands of tracks, and a few compatibility messages are now accurate.

Fixed — Duplicate Finder

• Different versions are no longer flagged as duplicates. Clean vs Dirty edits, different-BPM renders, and Studio/Acapella variants of the same song are near-identical in sound, so they used to get grouped together. CueRadar now reads the version from the filename and keeps them apart — only genuine duplicates are flagged.
• The count badge clears when you remove duplicates. Trashing files (or removing a folder) now updates the red badge immediately, instead of leaving a stale number until the next scan.
• Rescan All and folder removal work for every folder. These now cover folders that were added in Music Analyser and surface in the Duplicate Finder, not just folders added directly in the tab — and any folder can be removed from the sidebar (right-click → Remove Folder).
• Adding a second folder no longer interrupts the first scan. Folders queue up and scan one after another.

Fixed & improved — performance on large libraries

• No more runaway memory during scans. Scanning very large libraries previously let memory grow without bound; it now stays flat regardless of library size.
• Duplicate scans are much faster. The Duplicate Finder only needs an acoustic fingerprint, so it now skips the heavier full analysis while scanning for duplicates — dramatically less work per file.
• The app stays responsive while scanning and playing. Large duplicate lists no longer bog down the interface, and pressing play is now instant instead of lagging.
• Honest scan speed. The "files/sec" readout now reflects current throughput instead of being dragged down by the initial file-discovery step.

Fixed — device compatibility messages

• FLAC compatibility is reported accurately. A FLAC file is no longer described as "not playable" on decks that play FLAC perfectly (CDJ-3000, XDJ-AZ, etc.). The warning now names only the specific decks that genuinely can't play the file — typically older CDJ-2000 / NXS units.

Notes

• If a duplicate group looks wrong after updating, hit Refresh in the Duplicate Finder to recompute with the new version-aware matching.
• This release contains no changes to your files or library data — it's all detection accuracy, speed, and stability.

The biggest CueRadar update yet — a rebuilt analysis engine, a new Change Tempo tool, library-wide duplicate detection, and a batch of accuracy and compatibility fixes.

New — Sharper BPM & key detection, fully on your Mac

The beat and key analysis has been rebuilt from the ground up and now runs entirely on-device.

• More accurate BPM. Cleaner beat tracking means fewer wrong tempos and better-placed downbeats — including the orange Beat 1 marker you can nudge on the waveform.
• More accurate key detection. Camelot / Open Key results are noticeably more reliable across dance, club, and radio material.
• Faster, and offline. Analysis is quicker and needs no internet connection.

New — Change Tempo

Render a copy of any analysed track at a new BPM, one track at a time.

• Two modes. Keep pitch (Master Tempo) holds the song's key while the tempo moves; Natural moves tempo and pitch together, like riding a vinyl pitch fader.
• You choose the settings. Type the target BPM (the current BPM is prefilled but editable), pick the mode and output format (WAV, AIFF, or match the source).
• Honest quality warning. A live banner tells you how the change will sound — transparent for small nudges, with a clear "this will most likely sound bad" heads-up (and a confirm) for extreme stretches.
• Hear it first. A 10-second live preview lets you judge the result before you commit to a render.
• Your original is never touched. The new file is written next to it as … (125 BPM).wav, with conflict-safe naming.

Open it by right-clicking a track → Change Tempo…, or from the inspector.

New — Find duplicates across your whole library

The Duplicate Finder now automatically includes every folder you've already scanned in Music Analyser — no need to add them twice.

• Library-wide, zero extra steps. Switch to Duplicate Finder and your whole scanned library is already there.
• Count badge at a glance. A red badge on the Duplicate Finder tab shows how many redundant files you have, visible from any tab.
• Inline markers in Music Analyser. Tracks that have copies show a small duplicate indicator in the list — click it to jump straight to that group.
• Smart about versions. Remixes, edits, and bootlegs of the same song are no longer mistaken for duplicates of each other. CueRadar reads the version from the filename — even a bare producer name like (Blasterjaxx), no keyword list needed — and won't group files of clearly different length.
• Opt folders out. Exclude any folder from duplicate scanning without removing it from Music Analyser.

New — Quick ½ / ×2 BPM correction

When the analyser double- or half-counts the tempo, fix it in one click — from the track's right-click menu or the ½ / ×2 buttons in the inspector. The corrected BPM (and its beat grid) is saved immediately; no re-analysis needed.

Fixed & improved — device compatibility

The "playable on your gear" check is more honest and accurate.

• Pick your own gear. On a fresh install CueRadar no longer assumes a lowest-common-denominator device — choose your decks in Settings and everything is checked against exactly what you own.
• FLAC files no longer mislabeled "Unsupported." CueRadar now reads FLAC bit depth directly from the file, so a healthy lossless track isn't failed just because macOS wouldn't report its bit depth.
• 32 kHz MP3s play. Standard 32 kHz files are no longer wrongly flagged — they're supported across modern Pioneer and Denon gear.
• 32-bit WAV/AIFF is a gentle note, not a hard error. Modern Pioneer hardware plays 32-bit float fine, so CueRadar shows an "off-spec" advisory instead of "not playable." Older gear that genuinely can't play it still shows the blocking warning.

Notes

• WAV/AIFF tempo output carries the new BPM in its filename; embedded BPM tags are written for MP3/M4A/FLAC outputs.
• The duplicate badge updates automatically as you scan, and clears when duplicates are resolved.
• BPM ½/×2 corrections are reflected immediately in the track list and any open inspector.

One new feature plus two fixes for the Music Analyser.

New

• Group by folder. A new toggle in the Music Analyser toolbar breaks the track list into collapsible sections, one per folder, each header showing the folder name, track count, and a quality breakdown. Makes auditing a big multi-folder library folder-by-folder much easier. Toggle it back off for the flat list.

Fixed

• Your songs now show up in the Music Analyser no matter which tab you scanned from. Previously, if you added and scanned a folder in the Duplicate Finder, the Music Analyser would show the correct track counts in the sidebar but an empty "Add a music folder" screen instead of your songs. Scanned libraries are now shared across tabs — scan once, see your tracks everywhere, with no need to re-scan.
• Cancelling a scan now clears the progress bar immediately. Previously the "Scanning…" indicator could stay stuck on screen after you pressed Cancel, even though the scan had actually stopped. Tracks analysed before you cancelled are kept.
• 32 kHz MP3 files are no longer wrongly flagged as unsupported on Pioneer CDJs. The CDJ-2000/2000NXS, 2000NXS2, and 3000 all play 32 kHz MP3s per Pioneer's spec, but CueRadar's compatibility check was only allowing 44.1 and 48 kHz — so a valid, regularly-played 320 kbps track could show as "unsupported." Fixed.
• USB drives formatted as HFS+ (macOS Journaled) are no longer wrongly flagged as unsupported. Pioneer CDJs have supported HFS+ since 2009 and recommend it for Mac users (faster exports). The USB Checker now shows HFS+ as a neutral compatibility note rather than a "reformat now" warning, with accurate guidance: it's fine on Pioneer, and on Denon only the SC6000/SC6000M support it (not the Prime series). NTFS and APFS are still correctly flagged, since no DJ player reads them.

Bug fixes for scan flows + the tab system.

Fixed

• The Duplicate Finder now shows your scan results immediately when the scan finishes. Previously the screen would briefly snap back to "Add music folder" empty state — your data was actually there, but a timing bug meant the database wasn't queried until a moment later. The visible workaround (clicking Add music folder a second time, picking the same folder, cancelling) is no longer needed.
• Switching tabs while a scan, refresh, or any other long-running operation is in progress no longer interrupts it. Scan progress, results, drive enumeration, and any in-flight UI state all survive when you flip between tabs and come back. This applies across every tab — Music Analyser, Duplicate Finder, Music Converter, USB Checker, and Roadmap.
• The "Write tags to files…" toolbar button has been renamed to "Write tags to ID3 tags…" to match how DJs talk about embedded music metadata. The bulk-review sheet now opens with a short explanation of what the tool does and where it writes (ID3v2 for MP3, iTunes atoms for M4A, Vorbis comments for FLAC) so it's clear before you apply anything.
• The Rename Files review list no longer carries over stale "unchecked" state when you switch between templates. Every template change starts fresh — every row that the new template can rename is selected by default; everything else (no-ops, conflicts) is not. Previously a row that was a no-op under one template would stay unchecked after switching to a template that would rename it.
• The Rename Files feature no longer fails with "No track row with id ..." errors when scanning a folder you've previously analysed. The underlying cause was that re-scanning cached files generated fresh internal IDs in memory that didn't match the IDs stored on disk, so every rename, tag-write, or undo keyed off the in-memory ID would silently miss. Now the IDs are reconciled at scan time so in-memory state and the saved database always agree.
• The Music Analyser track list now shows the analysed BPM and Camelot key as part of every row's main label — "Artist — Title — 128 — 8A" — so the table reads consistently whether or not the file has been renamed with that info embedded in its name.

Bug fixes + one quality-of-life addition.

New

• The inspector now shows the track's embedded album artwork as a thumbnail at the top, next to the title block. Works for MP3, M4A / MP4, and FLAC files that have an embedded cover image. Falls back to a placeholder when none is present.

Fixed

• Tracks no longer appear two or three times in the Music Analyser list after multiple scans. CueRadar now removes the stale entries that accumulated from previous scans on launch.
• Bulk tag writing no longer attempts to write to files that have been moved, renamed, or deleted since the library was scanned. These files are quietly skipped instead of appearing as failures.

Maintenance build — bug fixes and polish.

Coming from a fresh install

CueRadar 0.1.1 is signed (Developer ID) and notarised by Apple. On first launch, double-click should just work on macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later. If Gatekeeper still warns, right-click → Open → Open Anyway.

CueRadar 0.1.0 — first public beta

The first public DMG. Everything works end-to-end on a fresh Mac.

Known limitations in 0.1.0

• Notarised but signing identity is the developer ID (not Mac App Store) — Gatekeeper may still warn on first open: right-click → Open → Open Anyway.
• Telemetry is opt-in at first launch and can be revoked at any time from Preferences → Privacy.
• Bug reports and feature requests are public — when you click "Report a bug" inside the app, your title, body, and severity will be visible to other beta testers in the Roadmap tab.
• Sparkle auto-update is wired and signed — future releases will install in-place without manual download.
